Treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus
Treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks the body’s own tissues, causing inflammatory damage to joints, skin, internal organs, and blood vessels. The disease is characterized by a relapsing–remitting course with periods of exacerbations and remissions and requires long-term medical follow-up.

When is treatment required?

Treatment is required in cases of joint pain and swelling, skin rashes, increased fatigue, fever, as well as signs of kidney, heart, lung, or nervous system involvement. Indications for therapy include a confirmed diagnosis and evidence of active autoimmune inflammation.

How is treatment carried out?

Treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus is aimed at suppressing autoimmune inflammation, reducing disease activity, and protecting internal organs from damage. An individualized pharmacological therapy is selected based on the clinical form and degree of disease activity. Regular monitoring of laboratory parameters and target organ function is performed, followed by treatment adjustment when necessary.
