Treatment of psoriatic arthritis
Treatment of psoriatic arthritis

Psoriatic arthritis is a chronic inflammatory joint disease associated with psoriasis, in which joints, ligaments, and tendons are affected, leading to pain, swelling, and progressive impairment of the musculoskeletal system. The disease may present in various clinical forms and requires a comprehensive approach to treatment.

When is treatment for psoriatic arthritis required?

Treatment is required in the presence of joint pain and swelling, morning stiffness, limited mobility, inflammation of the fingers in a “sausage-like” pattern (dactylitis), as well as when joint involvement is combined with cutaneous manifestations of psoriasis. Indications for therapy include disease progression and signs of involvement of multiple joints.

How is the treatment carried out?

Treatment of psoriatic arthritis is aimed at reducing inflammatory activity, alleviating pain, and slowing joint destruction. An individual pharmacological therapy regimen is selected based on the clinical form and activity of the disease. Regular monitoring of clinical and laboratory parameters is performed, with treatment adjustments as needed. Rehabilitation measures are also used to preserve joint mobility and functional capacity.
