Polymyositis treatment
Polymyositis treatment

Polymyositis is a systemic inflammatory disease of skeletal muscles of autoimmune origin, characterized by progressive muscle weakness and reduced physical endurance. The pathological process predominantly affects the proximal muscles of the shoulder and pelvic girdles, making everyday movements difficult.

When is treatment for polymyositis required?

Treatment is required in cases of increasing muscle weakness, rapid fatigue, muscle pain, difficulty climbing stairs, rising from a seated position, or lifting the arms. Indications for therapy also include abnormal laboratory findings, signs of muscle inflammation, and a confirmed diagnosis of inflammatory myopathy.

Treatment of polymyositis is aimed at suppressing autoimmune inflammation and restoring muscle function. Pharmacological therapy is selected individually, taking into account disease activity and comorbid conditions. Long-term follow-up with assessment of clinical progression and laboratory markers plays a crucial role. After reduction of inflammatory activity, rehabilitation measures are introduced to gradually restore muscle strength and endurance.

Main advantages of polymyositis treatment in Belarus

Comprehensive diagnostics are performed to confirm the inflammatory nature of muscle involvement, followed by individualized treatment planning. A stepwise and systematic approach allows reduction of disease activity, slowing of progression, and improvement of patients’ functional status.

Treatment of polymyositis is available in leading clinics in Belarus, where modern diagnostic tools, evidence-based therapy, and structured long-term patient monitoring are provided.
