Treatment of Churg-Strauss disease
Treatment of Churg-Strauss disease

Churg–Strauss syndrome (eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis) is a rare systemic autoimmune disease belonging to the group of vasculitides, characterized by inflammation of small and medium-sized blood vessels. The disease often develops in the context of bronchial asthma and allergic conditions and may affect the lungs, skin, heart, nervous system, and other organs.

When is treatment for Churg–Strauss syndrome required?

Treatment is required in the presence of bronchial asthma, marked blood eosinophilia, allergic rhinitis, skin rashes, muscle and joint pain, numbness of the extremities, and signs of internal organ involvement. The disease often has a relapsing–remitting course, making early diagnosis and long-term follow-up essential.

How is treatment carried out?

Treatment of Churg–Strauss syndrome is aimed at suppressing autoimmune inflammation and preventing damage to vital organs. The cornerstone of therapy is systemic glucocorticosteroids. In moderate to severe cases, immunosuppressive agents and modern targeted therapies are used. Regular monitoring of laboratory parameters, lung function, cardiac status, and the nervous system is performed. Treatment is individualized and carried out in stages.

Treatment of Churg–Strauss syndrome is available in leading clinics in Belarus, where the expertise of rheumatologists is combined with modern medications and facilities for long-term dynamic monitoring.
