Rhytidoplasty (surgical facelift)
Rhytidoplasty (surgical facelift)

Rhytidoplasty is a plastic surgical procedure aimed at lifting the skin and deep facial tissues. The operation helps eliminate age-related changes, smooth deep wrinkles, restore facial contours, and improve skin firmness and elasticity.

When is rhytidoplasty indicated?

  • Pronounced age-related changes such as skin sagging, deep wrinkles, and tissue laxity.
  • Loss of clear facial contours with ptosis of the cheeks and jawline.
  • Excess skin in the neck and lower face area.
  • Insufficient effect of non-invasive rejuvenation techniques.
  • The patient seeks a long-lasting and significant rejuvenating result.

How is the procedure performed?

  1. Surgeon consultation – clinical assessment and selection of the appropriate lifting technique.
  2. Anesthesia – the procedure is performed under general anesthesia.
  3. Lifting of skin and muscular structures – excess skin is removed, adipose tissue is repositioned, and muscular layers are reinforced.
  4. Fixation and suturing – cosmetic sutures are applied and concealed within natural skin folds.
  5. Rehabilitation – swelling gradually subsides over several weeks; the final result becomes visible within 3–6 months.

Types of rhytidoplasty

  • Classic full facelift – comprehensive rejuvenation of the face and neck.
  • Endoscopic facelift – a minimally invasive technique with small incisions.
  • Midface lift – correction of the cheekbones, cheeks, and nasolabial folds.
  • SMAS lifting – deep facelift with reinforcement of the superficial musculoaponeurotic system.
  • Mini-lift – limited lifting procedure suitable for early signs of aging.

Advantages of rhytidoplasty in Belarus

  • Deep facial rejuvenation with restoration of natural contours.
  • Long-lasting results, typically maintained for 10–15 years.
  • Natural appearance without an over-tightened facial effect.
  • Possibility of combining with other rejuvenation procedures.

Recovery after rhytidoplasty

  • Wearing a compression facial garment for 1–2 weeks.
  • Limitation of facial expressions and physical activity during the first month.
  • Adherence to proper sleep regimen and regular skin hydration.
  • Scheduled follow-up visits with the surgeon to monitor healing.

The procedure is performed in leading plastic surgery clinics using modern lifting techniques, ensuring natural rejuvenation results and a safe recovery process.
