Installation of retainers
Installation of retainers

Retainer placement is the final stage of orthodontic treatment aimed at stabilizing the achieved result after tooth alignment and preventing relapse. Retainers help maintain the correct position of the teeth and long-term bite stability after the removal of braces or aligners.

When is retainer placement required?

Retainers are required after completion of the active orthodontic phase to hold the teeth in their new position. Indications also include a risk of relapse — a tendency of teeth to shift due to bite characteristics, the patient’s age, or the condition of periodontal tissues.

How does the treatment proceed?

Before placement, an examination is performed to assess the stability of the orthodontic outcome. Retainers are selected individually and may be fixed (bonded) or removable, depending on the clinical situation. Fixed retainers are attached to the inner surface of the teeth, while removable retainers are worn according to a prescribed schedule. Follow-up visits are scheduled to monitor tooth position and retainer integrity.

Main advantages of retainer placement in Belarus

An individualized selection of the retention appliance is ensured, taking into account bite characteristics and the completed orthodontic treatment. A structured approach and regular follow-up help reliably preserve orthodontic results and prevent secondary tooth displacement.

Retainer placement is available in leading clinics in Belarus, where professional orthodontic supervision, modern equipment, and long-term patient monitoring are provided.
