Lymphography
Lymphography

Lymphography is a radiographic contrast imaging method used to examine the lymphatic system, allowing detailed visualization of lymphatic vessels and lymph nodes. The procedure is applied for the diagnosis of neoplastic, inflammatory, and infectious diseases of the lymphatic system.

When is lymphography required?

In cases of enlarged lymph nodes, limb edema, and suspected lymphedema. For the diagnosis of lymphoma, metastases to lymph nodes, and lymphangitis. For the detection of congenital anomalies of the lymphatic system and assessment of postoperative status. When monitoring the effectiveness of treatment of oncological diseases is required.

Types of lymphography

  • Direct lymphography – administration of a contrast agent directly into the lymphatic vessels.
  • CT lymphography – computed tomography performed after contrast administration.
  • MR lymphography – visualization of the lymphatic system using magnetic resonance imaging.
  • Radionuclide lymphoscintigraphy – use of radioisotopes to study lymphatic flow.

How is the examination performed?

A contrast agent is administered into a lymphatic vessel, followed by a series of X-ray, CT, or MRI images. The procedure may take from 30 minutes to several hours, depending on the examination method.

Main advantages of lymphography in Belarus

High diagnostic accuracy for diseases of the lymphatic system. The ability to detect tumor metastases, inflammation, and disorders of lymphatic flow. A non-surgical alternative to surgical examination of lymph nodes.

Belarusian medical centers are equipped with modern diagnostic equipment for high-precision visualization of the lymphatic system. Experienced specialists perform the examination with minimal discomfort and high accuracy in result interpretation.
