Fluorography is a radiographic examination method of the organs of the chest that allows detection of diseases of the lungs, bronchi, and the cardiovascular system. The examination is used as part of preventive check-ups and screening for tuberculosis, pneumonia, and oncological diseases.

When is fluorography required?

During preventive examinations for the detection of tuberculosis, pneumonia, and lung tumors. In cases of diagnosis of chronic respiratory diseases, bronchitis, and pleuritis. For assessment of the condition of the heart and blood vessels and detection of chest pathologies. During preparation for hospitalization, work involving children, and routine medical examinations.

How is the examination performed?

The patient stands in front of the fluorography unit, and an image is obtained in the frontal and sometimes lateral projection. The procedure takes 2–5 minutes and does not require preparation.
