Karyotyping
Karyotyping

Karyotyping is a laboratory cytogenetic test aimed at analyzing the number and structure of human chromosomes. The method makes it possible to detect chromosomal abnormalities that may cause hereditary diseases, reproductive disorders, or congenital malformations.

When is karyotyping required?

The test is recommended during pregnancy planning, in cases of infertility, recurrent miscarriage, suspected genetic disorders, congenital developmental anomalies, delayed puberty, and when there is a family history of hereditary diseases. Karyotyping may be performed for both adults and children based on medical indications.

How is the test performed?

Venous blood is used for analysis. In the laboratory, cells are isolated and the chromosomal set is microscopically evaluated to determine their number and structure. The test requires time for cell culture preparation. The results are interpreted by a medical geneticist, taking into account the clinical situation and family history.

Main advantages of karyotyping in Belarus

Modern cytogenetic techniques and standardized laboratory protocols are applied. A comprehensive approach allows timely detection of chromosomal abnormalities, уточнение diagnosis, and determination of further medical follow-up or treatment strategy.

Karyotyping can be performed at leading clinics in Belarus, where professional genetic diagnostics, high laboratory accuracy, and expert consultation are ensured.
