Treadmill test
Treadmill test

A treadmill test is a diagnostic examination of the cardiovascular system under physical stress performed on a treadmill. It helps identify latent forms of coronary artery disease (CAD), arrhythmias, and hypertension, as well as assess the patient’s physical endurance.

When is a treadmill test required?

In patients with complaints of chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, or cardiac rhythm disturbances occurring during physical exertion. It is used in the diagnosis of coronary artery disease, angina pectoris, hypertension, and heart failure. The test is applied to assess exercise tolerance in athletes, in patients after myocardial infarction, and prior to surgical interventions. It is also used to monitor the effectiveness of treatment for cardiovascular diseases.

How is the examination performed?

Sensors are placed on the patient to record the ECG and measure arterial blood pressure. The patient then walks on a treadmill, with speed and incline gradually increasing. The physician records changes in heart rhythm, blood pressure, and the body’s response to physical load. The test lasts from 10 to 30 minutes.

Main advantages of the treadmill test in Belarus

High diagnostic accuracy for detecting latent cardiovascular pathologies. The ability to assess cardiac function under exercise conditions. Safety, continuous specialist supervision during the test, and individualized selection of exercise load.

Belarusian medical centers are equipped with modern cardiology systems for performing treadmill testing with high accuracy and safety. Experienced specialists analyze the results and provide treatment recommendations.
