Orthostatic test with ECG
Orthostatic test with ECG

The orthostatic ECG test is a functional examination method that allows assessment of the cardiovascular system response to changes in body position. The test helps identify autonomic nervous system dysfunction, orthostatic hypotension, arrhythmias, and latent cardiovascular pathologies.

When is an orthostatic test required?

In cases of dizziness, syncope, or weakness when changing body position. It is used in the diagnosis of autonomic dysfunction, hypotension, and disorders of blood pressure regulation. The test is applied to detect orthostatic reactions in athletes, patients with circulatory disorders, and elderly individuals. It is also indicated during evaluation of patients with suspected arrhythmias or cerebral hypoperfusion.

How is the examination performed?

Electrodes are placed on the patient to record the ECG. Initially, ECG recording is performed in the supine position, after which the patient stands up and changes in cardiac activity and arterial blood pressure are recorded. The examination lasts 10–15 minutes.

Main advantages of the orthostatic ECG test in Belarus

High diagnostic accuracy in assessing cardiac and vascular responses to postural changes. The ability to detect latent arrhythmias, hypotension, and autonomic disorders. Painlessness, accessibility, and no need for complex preparation.

Belarusian medical centers are equipped with modern cardiodiagnostic systems that ensure accurate monitoring of cardiac function. Experienced specialists perform the examination with high diagnostic value and precise interpretation of results.
