Holter monitoring
Holter monitoring

Holter monitoring is a method of long-term electrocardiogram (ECG) recording over 24 hours or longer, allowing the detection of arrhythmias, ischemic changes, and other hidden cardiovascular pathologies.

When is Holter monitoring required?

In patients with complaints of palpitations, dizziness, syncope, or chest pain. It is used in the diagnosis of arrhythmias, coronary artery disease (CAD), heart rhythm disorders, extrasystoles, tachycardia, and bradycardia. The method is applied to assess the effectiveness of antiarrhythmic therapy, after myocardial infarction, and when asymptomatic ischemic episodes are suspected. It is also used in the examination of athletes, patients with hypertension, and for monitoring pacemaker function.

How is the examination performed?

Electrodes are placed on the patient’s chest and connected to a compact recorder that continuously records the ECG for 24 hours or longer. The patient maintains their usual daily activities while keeping a diary of actions and symptoms. After completion of monitoring, the physician analyzes the data and provides a clinical conclusion.

Main advantages of Holter monitoring in Belarus

High accuracy in detecting arrhythmias, ischemic changes, and latent cardiac pathologies. The ability to analyze cardiac function in real-life conditions, including sleep and physical activity. Painlessness, non-invasiveness, and convenience of wearing a portable recording device.

Belarusian medical centers are equipped with modern long-term ECG monitoring systems, ensuring precise assessment of cardiac activity. Experienced specialists analyze the recordings and provide recommendations for treatment adjustment.
