Electrocardiography (ECG) is a diagnostic method used to assess heart function and detect rhythm disturbances, ischemic changes, myocardial hypertrophy, and other cardiac pathologies.
When is an ECG required?
In patients with complaints of chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, weakness, or palpitations. It is used in the diagnosis of arrhythmias, coronary artery disease (CAD), myocardial infarction, and cardiac hypertrophy. ECG is also applied for monitoring cardiac status in patients with hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and chronic diseases. It is routinely performed during preoperative assessment, preventive check-ups, and screening of athletes and individuals with cardiovascular risk factors.
How is the examination performed?
Electrodes are placed on the patient’s chest, arms, and legs to record the electrical activity of the heart. The procedure takes 5–10 minutes, is performed at rest, and does not require special preparation.
Main advantages of electrocardiography in Belarus
Rapid and widely accessible diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases. High accuracy in detecting arrhythmias, ischemia, and chamber overload. Painlessness, safety, and the possibility of performing the test at any time.
Belarusian medical centers are equipped with modern digital electrocardiographs that ensure precise diagnostics. Experienced specialists interpret the findings and provide recommendations for further examination and treatment.
