Computed tomography (CT) of the liver is a high-precision diagnostic method that allows detailed visualization of the liver structure, biliary tract, blood vessels, and surrounding tissues. The method is used to detect inflammatory, oncological, vascular, and degenerative diseases.

When is CT of the liver required?

The examination is indicated for pain in the right upper abdomen, jaundice of the skin, and digestive disorders. It is performed when hepatitis, cirrhosis, cysts, tumors, or metastases are suspected. CT is also used to diagnose fatty liver disease, abscesses, and vascular abnormalities, as well as for preoperative assessment, biopsy planning, and monitoring treatment effectiveness.

How is the examination performed?

The patient is positioned in a computed tomography scanner, where layer-by-layer imaging of the liver is performed. In some cases, a contrast agent is administered to improve visualization of blood vessels and tumor formations. The procedure takes approximately 10–20 minutes, is painless, and requires minimal preparation (fasting for several hours before the examination is usually recommended).

Main advantages of liver CT in Belarus

High-resolution visualization of liver structure with the ability to detect pathologies at early stages. Rapid examination with the option of emergency diagnostics. The possibility of 3D reconstruction of the liver and vascular system for precise assessment of pathological changes.

Belarusian medical centers are equipped with modern computed tomography scanners that provide accurate diagnostics of liver diseases. Experienced specialists perform examinations with detailed interpretation of results.
